Las Vegas, Nevada (Friday, February 18, 2005). Johnny Brenden, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Brenden Theatre Corporation today contributed $35,950.67 to support Tsunami relief efforts. Brenden presented the donation to the officers of the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce at its annual dinner reception.
Through its fundraising efforts, the Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce raised over $29,000 which was matched by Brenden with an additional amount raised through patron donations at Brenden’s theatre complexes in California and Southern Nevada.
The funds will be contributed through the Office of Nevada Congressman Jon C. Porter to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, a special UNICEF fund launched recently by former US Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton to bring life saving water and sanitation to the survivors of the tsunami.
“The community has really stepped forward,” said James Yu, President of the Asian Chamber of Commerce. “We raised $26,000 in our initial launch event recently held in Las Vegas at the Premsrirut residence. We are very appreciative of the matching donations from Mr. Brenden and his additional fundraising efforts that bring our grand total to over $65,000.”
“I applaud the efforts of Presidents Bush and Clinton and thank the Asian Chamber of Commerce for spearing heading local efforts,” remarked Johnny Brenden.
